RM: I was just curious if the airbenders could just come back from the general population rather than necessarily having to come back through Aang or anyone else who came from the airbending lineage.
MDD: Aang is the last Airbender, so I don’t think it’s possible for Airbending to spontaneously develop in the general population.“spontaneously develop in the general population”
It wouldn’t be spontaneous though, because Ty Lee obviously has some airbender in her. Spontaneously developing in the general population would be like in a fic I read once where the spirits were trying to “restore balance” by making random kids from all nations into airbenders.
However, the notion that Teo or the Northern Air Temple’s population would develop airbending is a bit rediculous. The ability for bending a certain element is something you’re born with. A specific element has to be in your bloodline, unless you’re the avatar of course.
